Wishing a Merry Christmas to all visitors to these pages, some old, some new, but all very welcome. I continue to be amazed by quite how many people drop in, especially after something like 12 years when frankly I have nothing much left to say, but I keep plugging away. The photo below is a Pileated Woodpecker from Grand Forks in North Dakota, and at -23C it felt rather more seasonal than here in London which is currently damp and grey. I have to say I am really quite pleased with the minimal work required to craft the traditional Santa hat, and can't believe I never thought of it before.

A (belated) Merry Christmas to you, Jono, and thank you for your blog efforts over the past year. As always, they have been varied, informative and entertaining, and you can't ask for more than that from a blog. All the best to you and yours for 2022. It will be interesting to see what the nest 12 months bring.
